Lettering and Spiders

A PITA but there's worse to come...those horrible 'fish flies' that suddenly rise from the surface of the water and stick to the dew on the boat and die, covering the boat with a dead fish smell!

Windlass Problem
Sat, Jan 29, 2011 3:29 PM
So, unless there is a hidden fuse or CB in the windlass motor housing, it seems to me the windlass motor decided to die this A.M. I would call Lewmar for ideas, but today being Saturday nobody is home. Any ideas for resolution GREATLY appreciated. Currently southbound in the ICW heading passing West Palm this P.M. Re: T&T: Two batteries/one bilge pump

If a battery is dying and the switch is on both, both batteries die; then the bilge starts to fill. You are correct about both discharging equally if the switch is on BOTH, as long as they are at the same capacity AND state of charge. But if one is weak, it will soon be discharged and take the good one with it.

They would provide a cheap LH monitor and when they die, just buy another.   If you wanted to go upscale there were loads of 14.1 inch IBM Thinkpads running various flavors of XP for $225. I’d expect one of that quality build to run for years especially if one was to cut some extra ventilation holes in the case and add a small external fan.

Most units that are well cared for “die” when the tube > goes out and come back to life when it’s replaced. The tube life dominates > the MTBF in this case. Lifetime is only one variable I am interested in. I suspect that most of the standards have a much longer lifetime than their MTBF between intermittent faults. E.g.

Killing of bees and birds
Thu, Sep 18, 2014 12:35 AM
Bees are already facing a massive global die-off. This could be a death sentence for millions more bees. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is accepting public input on the decision for the next 27 days.
