here`s my 2 cents...way bk in the beginning of my ham radio learning, when
connecting wires together, or to a fitting, always remember, solder is a lousy
conductor! make a good physical connection, ie, crimpimg, then if needed, use
a little solder to keep it there! abt the only thing i solder on our bote, is
the coax connectors, then only the center conductor...i have a crimper to die
for when doing batt cables...it makes the fitting, and wire as one! (almost
takes 2 people) it gets loaned out a lot...i have a string tied to it, so it
comes home!...i used to have one of those hammer slammers, when a coupla
fittings fell off, i gave it away!...c
