TWL: Safe small electric heaters
Tue, Dec 5, 2000 3:21 AM
Additionally I use several somewhat unconventional devices: I buy 240 Volt 500 watt baseboard heaters, hook them up with a grounded cord and plug for 110 Volt useage. Since I am halving the voltage, I get approximately one quarter wattage or just about the same warmth as from a 100 watt lightbulb.

I know that initially the congress has >drug its feet on this. But I fear it is inevitable. $8+ a gallon fuel is >coming. Just for fun, I compared the cost of fuel to the cost of maintaining my boat for the past 5 years (I track all of my expenses in Quicken, so it's pretty easy). Fuel costs were roughly 5% of overall expenses.

Enough to never having to work again -- so I took up boating and leasing out sailboats (had six there for a while). Did I say never having to work again? George BTW: Did you see Larry's reply to mine re muffin fans?

Sinking

I bought another...same result. I concluded that the bilge of a boat is just too damp for these. Another "great idea" thwarted by mother nature!!! My Dad and I assisted USCG personnel many years ago when an 80 foot or so commuter style boat ran up on a breakwater in NY.

Just thought people cruising in the Chesapeake Bay this summer might like to know that there is a new FREE wireless (802.11) internet service available from www.annapoliswireless.com Check out their web site if you're interested - I believe they expect to expand their coverage as summer approaches, to include Eastport as well.

I have no problems with voice. My phone, s SONY, can do analogue or digital and do it very well. My problem (and I said this a number of times) is using a cell phone with an e-mail machine, especially the Sharp TM-20 via PocketMail. And as I also said: PocketMail works excellently via landlines, both home, office or payphones.

Re(2): TWL: Biocides in Diesel

Main difference is that I added Biobor JF to the actual tank but nothing to the fuel in the plastic containers. I did clean the Racor bowl by hand and changed the filter (2 micron). Hence I repeat my earlier question: Has anybody else had this problem of sudge after using Biobor?
