Racor Fuel System Air Leaks
Fri, Jul 27, 2007 11:28 PM
The gasket is made by a company known as TOP. THe gasket comes in a package that says TOP. Sometimes people think that indicates how the gasket is to be installed. It boggles the mind to think that this is the cause of anyone's air leak, but I know of a boat where this is exactly what bit me. There are two distinct sides to the gasket. 1.

I removed the top to get to the electrode pack and I saw pink stuff in the stream coming from the freshwater tank. New pack! Now raritan tells me that all I have to do is vacuum the Lectrasan through the plug on top. Have not had a problem since. Hans ( deckhand on Peggy's boat)

Airing up the dink - hard-sided dink adherents may ignore
Wed, Jan 9, 2008 10:46 PM
>Raising the dink (even a light weight one) that is on top, will adversely affect the boats center of gravity. Hope you have fin stabilizers other wise you are going to roll more then you did. I don't think that's going to be an issue in this particular case.

Fuel Economy - Nordic Tug 32, Eagle 32, or similar
Wed, Jan 30, 2008 12:15 AM
Older NT32's will have smaller 210HP diesels with lower top-ends but better fuel economy. It will be difficult to find an NT32 for $100K. Wilde Yacht's in Essex CT has an 1988 NT32 for $100K. John Baczek Puffin, NT32-266 Watch Hill, RI

Then pass the unknotted end through one eye, across the top of the battery through the other eye and then tie it off as tight or lose as you'd like with the knot of your choice. With four parts across the top of the battery, it is easy on the hands. Costs about $0.25! It doesn't lighten the battery, but it makes lifting them manageable.

Am I right in thinking that the tank is > actually full to the top, and that's what's causing waste to exit the > vent line? Or what else would cause that to happen? Help!!

Jim wrote: When connecting the fuel return line I have the choice of returning the clean diesel fuel to the top of the tank or the bottom of the tank through a dip tube. Is one better than the other? Is there any problem or disadvantage with either? Reply: My tanks return to the top. One thing I like about this is I can hear them working.

Anyway the oil level is almost at the top of the glass bit looks quite brown. It only took a small amount to top up. SAE 90. How long should the oil last and could it be causing one of the pawl's to stick? How often should the oil be changed? Any experience would be appreciated.
