I'm finishing the installation of a simple fuel polishing system.
When connecting the fuel return line I have the choice of returning
the clean diesel fuel to the top of the tank or the bottom of the tank
through a dip tube. Is one better than the other? Is there any
problem or disadvantage with either? BTW the return is at one
end of the tank and the suction is at the bottom of the far other end
of the tank.
Thanks

Jim, Ideally you would be better off returning the fuel as close to the bottom as you can. This will allow a certain amount of the gunk in the bottom of the tank to get stirred up and recirculated through the filters. Chuck

My tanks return to the top. One thing I like about this is I can hear them
working. If I open the fill cap and put my ear close I can hear the fuel
pouring in. This is very comforting to me to know that I have the correct
valves open, the fuel is returning to the right tank, the pump is working,
etc. I have a big fear of overflowing a tank when transferring fuel. I have
seen and heard it done too many times.
Just my way of doing stuff...
