>>Finely powdered Boric acid spread near places where roaches walk >>worked for me in house and boat - simple and effective. > > >Well, ah thought it was a wonderful story... and he told it so >well... and >with such enthusiasm... ;-) Mel, just in case you're wondering: The research was done at a southern university (probably California) some 20 years ago and I remember it so well as at that time I had a serious investation in my appartment and got rid of the critters on my first try .Gg P.s: the Boric Acid powder is sold here at hardware stores in a kinda squeeze bottle as" Roach Killer". The fine print on the label identifies it as 99% Boric acid.

I wouldn't be too surprised if you couldn't find something like it in a lab-supply store or check with your nearest university -chemistry department. George of Scaramouche

Paula: some mneonics are harder to follow than the ten commandments. I don't get it either.... However the quote i published earlier on backing a single screw works well for me and astounds my neighbours: "I routinely backed my single screw Victory tug with little problems after a tugboat Captain told me how. Here it is again" "for a right hand screw (my tug was a left hand screw), ; turn the rudder full left. Then back a little, and as your stern starts to move to the left, kick it ahead a little (with the rudder over hard, you will move the stern back to the right smartly without moving ahead. Then back some more. With practice you can almost back in a.straight line. Before you start the backing, take into consideration the wind and current and you will have little problem after awhile."
