Number of people in our marina have done so and are quite happy (cost, weight, noise, smell) - also useful for sneaking up on wildlife - feathered and others.... That's what we used in the laboratory long before calculators were available - and I still use mine on the boat together with one-handed brass divider, parallel ruler, charts and of course my trusty Pelorus. Could you find out the source for this fluid. It would be a bargain even at triple that price. A few years ago I gave away a 12 ft METZELER for which I had paid $700 used, because I couldn't find the pinhole leaks.
