Re: TWL: Re: All-chain rode lengths

The tables included in so many books are just guidelines and there is plenty of documentation to support the notion that in deep water, say more than 60 feet or so and especially using all chain that the scope guidelines are overly generous and can be shortened significantly, as noted above.

> > Thanks for all input, Although not always easy to do, one suggestion could be to consult the list. Maybe make a phone call to someone with easy access to a computer and post your situation to the board. I know for myself if I hear a list member is my area , I am open for any kind of help I might be able to give.

The Class A Lake Worth Inlet is a good all weather inlet. Most vessels anchor long term at the north end of Lake Worth in the protected cove shown to the east of North Palm Beach at about mile 1014. >From there it is easy access by dinghy to shopping at a supermarket, West Marine and public transportation.

With CD/DVD burners so available it's easy to organize your files and move them on one disk. FYI on DVD's... They carry MUCH more data than CD's. One item is to have either a WiFi modem or long phone cord when docked so you can keep the computer current via a land and connected. All the best. John
