Re: TWL: Teak Tables
Sat, Mar 27, 2004 2:20 AM
The table top now slides diagonally out and away from the corner of the "L" of the settee, making it easier to get in and out, and in a low position making it more like a coffee table. We will likely put the same double wide slider on our new table top when we get it, because it makes it quite comfortable now.

Fuel, Filter, Prime Question
Mon, Jun 21, 2004 11:54 PM
I will need to bring in approximately 5 to 10 gallons prior to motoring one hour to the fuel docks to top tanks. Will need to replace one Racor and two engine mounted fuel filters. Should I do this with the 5 to 10 gal. Or after the tanks are topped off? Will need to prime the filter and fuel line to the single Ford Lehman.

Canvas replacement
Thu, Sep 2, 2004 3:38 AM
My bimini top has a vinyl undercoat behind the Sunbrella. The top is now 13 years old. It has been up every summer and winter except one. The past 3 winters were in Florida. The vinyl undercoat helps maintain water repellency so long as you do not fold the top. Folding introduces cracks.

RE: Solar Power Panels
Tue, Sep 21, 2004 1:06 PM
Skooch has a canvas covered hard top. If I add a fiberglass top instead of the canvas I will fit the solar to the top. Otherwise I cannot get enough panels to make a good dent in Skooch's 150 amp hour a day consumption. Skooch Hatteras LRC 42 Worton Creek MD

Re: Replumbing holding tank

That way, if your flange connection does leak, the leak is at the top of the tank and not at the bottom. I have installed several of the new plastic tanks and this is how the "big boys" do it. All flange/connections are done through the top of the tank. Brent Hodges M/V Frienship 43 Albin Sundeck Ardmore, Ok / Seabrook, Tx.

Fill from the top and suck out at the bottom and no new holes while maintaining the inspection port.

My Perfect Boat & the Fly Bridge
Tue, Feb 15, 2005 4:46 PM
My Manatee has a flybridge/flyingbridge/pilothouse up on top and no interior helm. Its great! We run the boat from upstairs and live downstairs. We have a hard top and vinyl curtains. Keeps the rain and wind off in inclement weather but we roll the side curtains up in the summer to let the breeze blow through.

Rebeddng a stanchion
Sun, Sep 25, 2005 12:47 AM
I had a stanchion on my top deck that was a bit loose and one of the bolts was just spinning. Thinking that I was going to find some rot underneath, I pulled the bolts and base up. I found the the area underneath (it's mounted on a "wall", about 3" high along the edge of the top deck) was just a hollow cavity in the fiberglass.

Re T&T Detriot Diesel Fuel Consumption
Sat, Dec 24, 2005 9:43 PM
If you are proped to allow the engine to reach top rated RPM then only at top RPM is the engine fully loaded. At any RPM below Max your engine is actually under loaded. This is why the idea of under proping to combat weather or head seas has no merit unless your planing to run WOT in those conditions. Brian Palmetto FL

Re: T&T: Dinghy Mounting
Thu, Mar 9, 2006 7:34 PM
How many people have a stability calculation done prior to mounting a dinghy up on the "boat deck" I realize that some boats are designed to carry a dinghy up top right from the drawing board. In fact I seem to recall one listee replying that if they did not have the dinghy up top the boat has a jerky roll motion that is unpleasant.
