Re: T&T: rigging an aft anchor on our 2005 43' Mainship

We did the entirety of the Mobile/Black Warrior/Tombigbee/TennTom/Tennessee system all the way from Mobile to Knoxville last year, as well as the entire Lower Mississippi down to New Orleans. Never once did we need a stern anchor.

;-) Sure I'd like a new GPS, but it won't die and is still more accurate than I really need. CHeers Mike Eedy M/V Excalibur North Bay ON

Birds and fear -

If this be true, they would have no need for fear, paranoia, worry, panic or the thought they might die, be injured or handicapped; All emotions we as humans unfortunately posses. Anyone want to comment on or ad to this thought? Thank you, Paul Carrier

[Ontbirds] Greater White Fronted Geese - 3 found, 2 flown, 1 remaining
Sun, Sep 28, 2014 11:43 PM
A few of us remained and another GWF Goose was found on the far shore again offering great views as the Canada Geese left all around it until it remained on the shore on its own. Thanks to all the trip leaders this weekend who worked so hard to find birds for us newbies despite high water, heat, biting ladybugs, black flies and mosquitoes.

Re: TWL: Detroit Diesel engine water temperature?

After all there have been millions of these and they didn't all turn up their toes and die because they weren't kept within 5 degrees! Personally, I use a 170 degree thermostat which generally keeps the temperature about 175.

We all associate the sound of a fog horn with the >traditions of the sea and such. But do we trust the sound of th 4ehornm or our >GPS when it comes to the ccrunch. >Arild > > Reply: > Sometimes old traditions die hard. I like GPS and have a good backup GPS that operates on batteries. Predominately where I operate there are no foghorns.

Be sure to have starter switches at all conning stations. More than once, I have had an engine die while maneuvering in close quarters. Being able to restart in the blink of an eye was important then. Rich Gano CALYPSO (GB-42 #295) Southport, FL (near Panama City)
