Re: T&T: Peculiar Hose Fittings?
Tue, Jan 19, 2010 3:06 PM
jweakley@visi.net writes: >Are these hose fittings Coast Guard approved? Short answer: Maybe. Long answer: The approval is based on a hose "system" (hose + connectors). If you take a close look at the spec sheets of CG approved hose, you will usually find some small print stating that the hose is only CG approved when used with the approved connectors, and giving you a list of which connectors are approved. Re: T&T: Filter Pliers

And this prompts me to mention one of the most useful tools I have on the boat: large jaw vice grips. http://www.amazon.com/Vise-Grip-12LC-12-Inch-Locking-Pliers/dp/B00004SBB1 These are great for removing filters. They are also perfect for the large nuts that go on through-hulls, getting sanitation off old toilets, loosening stuck shafts, and they will also grip a through-hull from the outside. I promise, the best $20 you will ever spend. Scott Welch "Things turn out best for people who make the best of the way things turn out." - John Wooden

Re: T&T: bilge pump capacity

JHWardJr@aol.com writes: >This thread is timely - and I pass on to the list an event from yesterday. By the way, just as an FYI for the list. I have mecanical counters on my bilge pump, and I've just had another one fail (they don't seem to withstand salt air). After a bit of searching I found a new product that looks great. Price seems pretty reasonable too: http://www.celectron.co.uk/overview.html I've ordered one and will install it this summer. I'll let everyone know how it works out. In fact, all mainstream browsers have had a security vulnerability at some point, so we shouldn't use the web at all...? Yes, you did "tell me so", but I don't much care for your negative opinion. I think using social login is a prudent risk for most websites - not online banking, sure, but most websites.

If "yes" then we can all forget about this if "no" then...... 2) Is C a universal speed limit? Given that we did not stop a #1 if C is a limit becomes a religious issue and you can flip a coin or you can simply define C as the limit. In other words you now have to decide but have no rational reason for going either way.
