The one with the mount that's die cast is non ferrous so it won't rust plus the cable runs up through the bracket, protecting the cable, and looks cleaner, IMO. I mounted mine under the cockpit overhead, so it's protected and it's held up well for 3 yrs. -- Steve Sipe Solo 4303 "Maerin" Brunswick, GA

FPGA hack newbie problems
Thu, Jul 19, 2012 9:48 AM
2) Is the FPGA cruicial to the operation of the E100 (will it die with the FPGA)? Or will a rotten FPGA image just spoil the sampling ability? 3) Where do I put the FPGA configuration file, and in what format, to have it loaded into the FPGA? Kind regards Peter J

Re: [time-nuts] Low noise power supplies - dont' use Electrolytics
Mon, Nov 28, 2011 7:21 AM
I think, aluminium electrolytics are meant, as these have a lot of "wear" and can die. Hence, you can use tantal or niob electrolytics, which have a dry eletrolyt. Or you can use ceramics which are already available at 100uF. Attila Kinali -- Why does it take years to find the answers to the questions one should have asked long ago?

Re: [time-nuts] Using CPLD/FPGA or similar for frequency divider

Like a CPLD/FPGA the PIC has the advantage of being fully synchronous and all on one die. /tvb [1] http://leapsecond.com/pic/ [2] https://www.tapr.org/kits_t2-mini.html

They mostly die from MTBF sorts of things > due to complexity and high temperatures, There are HP Rb’s > built many decades ago still running on their original cells. Bob, that is fascinating information. I will use my surplus Rubidium units more often now. Ian, G4ICV, AB2GR --

Re: [time-nuts] DMTD - analog multiplier vs. diode mixer ?

> > The interesting output will be coming out of a LPF so > most of the noise will die there?/ Yes I believe it does as the mixer multiplier noise sets a lower limit to the beat frequency jitter.
