I know because I just received mine. It >basically is a >wallet-sized piece of paper that has your name on it. No test is >required, >just an application indicating your name and address I find that disconcerting. A Canadian needs a similar licence -ROC. But you need to take a course and pass an examination.

Re: TWL: Re: Underwater electric (trolling) motors

Larry I have a similar setup but am curious what you used to "plug it in". I mean the type of connector? I use the battery cable clamps that came with the trolling motor. A real "pug in" would be nicer. George G.

Re: T&T: Dodging holding tank rules

Although I come from Ontario on >the Canadian side of the border I found the US regulations for border water >states to be as tough or tougher than Ontario. One further note in this. When I was boating in Ontario, I found that in most cases the pump-out was right beside the diesel pump, so you could fuel up and pump out at the same time.

Sapsuckers

No, I don't play golf (tho wish I could), but enjoy dawn walks around the local course, which can be quite birdy at times, and I don't mean the birdies in the game. There's been a fairly regular flock of about 300 Common Grackles in the last few days.

Re: T&T: Good Karma and rock avoidance

Scott, I keep my trawler at the "marina to starboard" you mention, about 200 feet from the rock, and we watch about a boat a day go aground on the rock -- as an FYI, it's Oregon Rock in Newcastle Channel. At very low tides the water is only about 6 inches deep. I draw almost 7 feet, so needless to say I treat that channel with caution.

Looks for 12 and/or 24 volt charger recommendations
Wed, Aug 6, 2008 1:01 AM
However, they seem to be pretty thin on the ground, in fact I can find any. So my other thought is a pair of 50 A 12 volt chargers, one for each half of the 24 volt bank. I was looking at a pair of Xantrex XC5012 (http://www.xantrex.com/web/id/180/p/1/pt/24/product.asp).
