Re: T&T: Sanitary hose

I have the hose clamps >as tight as I can and yet there are still leaks at the pump fittings. How >can I stop the leaks with this hose material? Let me pass on a helpful hint on this subject: I installed two new Vacuflush toilets on Island Eagle, as well as re-plumbing a manual head.

Jim, I'm not normally that dense { although there are those who would disagree ;-) }, but I can't visualize that position. Could you, would you give us a visual perhaps as a JPEG attachment? I would much appreciate (and maybe others too).

I simply add rings when they >are >needed. I never cut the rings on an angle, and I never pay >attention to >getting the rings so that the breaks are not aligned A man after my heart! Sometimes we try to be too scientifically accurate and fastidious.

If you can't find that info in the archives, I can send you a summary from memory. (I did exactly what I suggested above and it's been working fine for about 4 years now). George of Scaramouche1, Lake Ontario, Canada P.s: What material is your hull made of?

Re: T&T: Oil Absorbent Pads

I have a 45 year old Detroit Diesel, so trust me when I tell you I go through these things in bulk (I lose about half a quart of oil a day, I know that sounds like a lot but then again the engine holds 8 gallons of oil). In any event, go to a commercial boat yard or lubricant supply house and buy a bale of the good 3M oil absorbant pads.

I walked up the street, hoping to see it, and perhaps take it into the Don Valley, where I assume it had come from, but didn't find it again. Laura Murray, Toronto

Re: TWL: Re: Pressure Cooking and Canning aboard Winnie the Pooh

What I would appreciate and probably a few others, is how to bake bread in a pressure cooker. I know it can be done and have a rough idea. But I would love to hear it from an expert and you seem to fit that description. Please understand: I am interested in HOW you do it, not the list of ingredients - that I can get from a zillion books. TIA - George

TWL: Fwd: Re: Thrust vs. Horsepower (was Dinghy/motor question)

I think I've been reading a lot of "techno-babble" on this subject. I and most boaters are not interested in some esoteric formula to convert electric trolling motor performance to gasoline outboard performance.
