I think you will find that the recommended position was the double catch
rain. The catch rain position provides the best signal but is very unstable
with respect to angular position.

On the subject of radar reflectors, I would appreciate the variety of
opinions from the Trawler Net about what reflectors have worked best for
their boats. What brand, size, weight, installation and location.
horizontal plane. To get
the best reflections sent back to the radiating radar set
requires the reflector
to be mounted in the "catch rain" position where one pocket is
pointing straight
up, not the edge of the plate pointing up.

I'm having difficulty visualizing the "double catch rain" position.
Would that be with the midpoint of one of the arcs at the side of the
"catch rain" position in the up position?
I'm heading to Sanderling today, and will break out the reflector to see
if I can get the "double" position.

Jim, I'm not normally that dense { although there are those who would
disagree ;-) }, but I can't visualize that position. Could you,
would you give us a visual perhaps as a JPEG attachment? I would much
appreciate (and maybe others too).

P.s: My subscription to Practical Sailor started only a few months
ago and I don't have the article you refer to. Perhaps, you could
give the issue number of P.S. and I can then look it up in the
library. TKS, Gg
Just a reminder, attachments of any kind (i.e., a JPEG image) to list
emails are a no-no. You'd have to send it privately to each individual
who wants one.

Let me work on it. I think I have it in electronic form and I have a web
site where I can put it up so as to keep the TWL cops happy. Jim

Sorry and too bad - guess I lose out on this info then. Gg
