The popular options discussed is neither practical or easy to deploy. Then again, I'm biased in that regard. 26 Jan did some good, and upcoming leap-second comes very timely in that regard.

To retreive , let out scope on bow and pick up the Danforth.( Since it is only 16 lb this is easy by hand.) If it comes up with mud all is on the swim plat so it is not a problem. Works for us. CCC

They're all pretty easy jobs. Jeff and I handled them ourselves last year, but we'll be out of town this year and can't do it again. More information about the bike fest and our events can be found here: http://salidabikefest.com/ Dana

Garrett, I tried all the so called special products also. The only thing that worked for me was Easy Off oven cleaner. Tested it first of course. Used a plastic putty knife scraper (Home Depot-$0.79) to 'peel' it off. Hand rubbed and waxed the transom after that. Could barely see it when looking at an angle.

Hi Jim, I don't think that's too frequent at all. I change mine at least every other time, sometimes every time I change the engines. With most BW trannys only holding a couple of quarts, its pretty cheap & easy insurance. I recently installed the new oil lines from American Diesel on the transmission to cooler.

Battery Life

Its a digital device, about the size of a carton of cigarettes and easy to use. He loaned his to me and sure enough, one of my four batteries is goin' south. I think I'll replace all four since they are all of the same vintage. We are headed to the Chesapeake in the spring and I'd rather deal with this on my terms, in my town.

plain Easy Off indeed works well... wet, spray, let it sit a minute, scrub, rinse, repeat if needed. do a section at a time. works for paint on gelcoat as well as paint on Imron/algrip wear gloves!
