TWL: Removing Old Paint from Fibreglass

A while back I asked for advice on how to remove a boat's name painted
on the fibreglass, and got suggestions for lacquer thinners, vinegar,
Easy Off, a heat gun and scraper, etc. (I also did an archive search,
but it returned very little.) I've now tried all the recipes with hardly
any success. Whatever that paint is, it's hardy, and it's well set.
Rubbing compound works, I'd end up removing the surrounding gelcoat in
the process. Any other heavy duty ideas before I try a razor blade
scraper?

Cheers, Garrett

Garrett,
I tried all the so called special products also.  The only thing that worked
for me was Easy Off oven cleaner.  Tested it first of course.  Used a
plastic putty knife scraper (Home Depot-$0.79) to 'peel' it off.  Hand
rubbed and waxed the transom after that.  Could barely see it when looking
at an angle.  Suspect the sun will take care of the rest.  Even had
compliments on how good it looked.
