TWL: A number of boat repair questions
Fri, May 25, 2001 5:08 PM
Harder Stuff: Like all old MT's it leaks in a few places. My strategy is: First stop the leaks, then repair the damage. The scuppers were all cracked wide open, exposing wood, I was able to dig out all the dead wood and re-glass, those leaks were easy. Amazingly enough the Windows have all been repaired and do not leak.

Re: T&T: Sunk boats, replace all wiring and systems?
Tue, May 30, 2006 12:50 PM
Regardless of the time immersed, all wiring, electrical, any mechanical that has fast moving parts or bearings and all wood will have to be replaced. In some very isolated cases has the interior wood been usable, due to its being sealed from original. Obviously all upholstery is trash.

Sunk boats, replace all wiring and systems?
Mon, May 29, 2006 3:35 PM
If such a boat were salvaged, would all the wiring and mechanical systems require complete replacement or could they be flushed, treated and restored to service. With all the boats lost to hurricanes I'd imagine there is a significant amount of experience with this topic.

At $50 it would be a good deal; at $5000 not so much, IMO. > > -John > > ================= > > > >> Certainly using a lab reference stable 10 MHz derived 960 Khz >> or whatever sampling clock to delay the signal one time code bit time >> should not produce significant 60 KHz phase wanderings at all... >> >> -- >> Dave Emery N1PRE/AE, die@dieconsulting.com
