Trout Brook Valley Orchard Coyote warning
Fri, May 14, 2021 9:46 AM
Upon arriving in the orchard at 5:15 this morning, within 30 seconds I was met with a very large coyote at the top of the orchard who seemed to be clearly defending territory. It began barking relentlessly at me and has not stopped, despite me backing slowly all the way down to the blueberry patch.

TWL: Passing alarms through computer
Mon, Apr 1, 2002 2:11 PM
My computer could completely die and it wouldn't effect the normal function of the alarm system at all. That's not to say that alarms can't be based on computers. Under the covers, there is a computer there some place. They are solid state embedded devices that are meant to run forever without intervention.

Simpson Lawrence Windlass Motor

I have taken the windlass motor to numerous automotive and marine electrical shops and ALL say they can't get parts or repair the motor. I have also called a dozen or so 'hits' on the internet from Florida to Washington state and they all concur with this same opinion.

They were very upset that all three of these 8D AGMs where bad. They could not figure out what could have made them die, even continuos discharge over the 2 months in the yard they say should not have destroyed them. They actually didn't believe they were bad.

(Potentially) Catastrophic Electrical Shut-down

Your experience is one situation which points out the potential value of separate battery banks for twin screw boats....hopefully banks purchased at different times don't die simultaneously... Glad you made it thru this without serious consequences. It's another reminder how careful we all need to be when boating. Rob Brueckner Hatteras YF

Especially if you are the person who believes that the engine mounted fuel filter should normally die of old age, and not due to clogging.... Now, we are talking $$$$ and some added complexity. But, IMHO, Racors are considered the norm, the Cadillac, the in-line filtering system all others appear to be compared against.

All amplifiers amplify signal and noise, plus distort everything in the process. (fundamental laws of the universe: 1) You can't get something for nothing, 2) You can't break even, 3) You'll die trying) Ideally, you want the amplifier at the antenna and you want the amplification to match the cable loss and no more.

Well, this will all be over in a few days, but while it lasts: As I recall, the bomber had been hit by attempts to shoot it down, so it was not at operating altitude. They were all gonna die. That's why Cowboy rode it down - or maybe the director wanted another emotional kicker. Didn't see any parachute, though. Were they concealing stuff from us?
