Latop Viewing: The Dark Box
Fri, Aug 18, 2006 11:57 AM
Martin and All, My solution to the problem was to purchase a sheet of black foamcore board from Office Depot. It cost less than $10. I cut it to a width equal to the top and two sides of my laptop screen and guestimated the depth I needed.

Re: T&T: rudder control
Fri, Sep 8, 2006 3:34 PM
I think all the Krogens came with a manual tiller arm. Mine is mounted on the forward bulkhead in the lazarette, in two pieces. Check to see if you don't have something like this already. One piece fits over the tiller shaft and is upright, the other fits into the top of that and is used to turn the rudder.

Re: T&T: nitrogen

He also mentioned that if you use nitrogen, then you need to make sure you top off with nitrogen. As soon as you top off with air, you lose all of the benefits of the nitrogen. As to using it in an inflatable, I would think that it would be really hard to maintain a source of nitrogen for topping off. I'm sure it would be doable, but a PITA.

More on text alignment
Mon, Dec 28, 2020 4:15 AM
. --- valign --- valign=top doesn't always slam the top of the string against the X axis.  If the glyph is below and not touching the baseline, it only adjusts the baseline up to the X axis.  Thus text("_",valign="top") has the underscore a bit -Y below the X axis.

Re: Isotemp OCXO question
Sat, Aug 21, 2021 7:14 PM
I suspect this OCXO predates their website, and the internet. I guess I just need to test it and see what it does. I suspect the screw on the top covers a frequency adjustment resister or capacitor or something. Robert On 08/20/2021 02:01 AM, Keelan Lightfoot wrote: > Internet Archive to the rescue!

All chain vs half and half
Tue, Jun 14, 2016 12:35 PM
If you anchor with an all chain rode (we do), you have certainly noticed that in moderate to rough conditions, or when a thunder squall passes over, the chain comes tight and the whole boat is jarred in the waves. So that is why we all use a snubber. I cannot see how you would rig a snubber with a dyneema anchor line?
