Martin and All,
My solution to the problem was to purchase a sheet of black foamcore board
from Office Depot.  It cost less than $10.  I cut it to a width equal to the
top and two sides of my laptop screen and guestimated the depth I needed.  I
then folded two creases in the foamcore, making a hood that spanned the top of
the screen and dropped down each side.  I had some velcro in the galley junk
drawer which I affixed to the top and sides of the laptop as well as to the
foamcore.  I also put a small dot of Velcro on the "wings" of the hood so it
would hold it closed when folded.  This allows it to stow  in a compact space.
The only problem I had with the whole thing is that the femora tends to
delaminate when you try to pull it away from the laptop.  The Velcro is
stronger than the foamcore.
