Been in those seas and know full well that the LAST thing you want to do is take down all sails. There is no way in those seas that anyone would keep the boat pointing in one direction unless it is under sail and under way. The waves and swells would have quickly over powered it. It is easy to speculate sitting at the computer watching a video.

This is January and is often the time these hummer stragglers finally give in to the freezing temps so it was expected it would die soon.  As with the disappearance of the Calliope, which I did see, these little buggers are tough but just can't handle the cold temps of the northeast.

The vents are so small and they are an invitation to bugs to camp/die in to the detriment of fuel intake flow rate. Richard
