TWL: Sump Pumps
Sat, Apr 21, 2001 2:16 PM
I cheap easy work around is to take a 5 gallon bucket and drill 1/4" holes every inch or so all over the sides and bottom. Then suspend the bucket over the side on a light line so the top is a couple of inches out of the water. Then with another line suspend the sump pump inside the bucket so it sits a couple of inches off the bottom.

Island Gypsy 36'

I read and re-read Pascoe's stuff all of the time. He makes excellent points, and everyone who buys a boat should read all of his writings. It is no secret that he does not like oriental boats--and anyway you cut it, an Island Gypsy is an oriental boat.

Re: T&T: Cleaning sea chest

Here in the BVI lift bags are easy to borrow and a dive tank fills the size that you need, which would also seal off the intake. I would look at extending the sea chest above your waterline so you can access the interior whenever you want.

Not quite as good a return off of the top. Indeed the issue does date to F-117 days, they had to calculate mission parameters to keep the "sides" from facing the wrong way...

Eastern Ontario Pink-footed Goose and Snow Geese
Fri, Apr 7, 2023 4:37 PM
I saw all of the birds to the east, many along the water's edge in fields, likely due to the high wind which is keeping all birds low today, only going up occasionally. A better view was on Cty Rd 34 just south of the valley.

Re: Source of small quantities of teflon insulated thermal wires for cavity heating?

They do custom wire all the time in all sorts of weird configurations. They definitely have resistance wire (about 20 different kinds), and I know they do custom coatings (the data sheet says bare or insulated), but I don't know about PTFE.  They sell PTFE/Polyimide tubing from Elektrisola Medical Technologies.

Sherwood Is., Short Beach, Silver Sands, Milford Point and Hammo all in one day...

It was definitely in the swallow family with VERY LIGHT underside and dark on top. I'm thinking bluish. Maybe a female Martin? I'd love some feed back on this!! I haven't seen any posts on swallow-like birds this year yet.
