Both sessions were extremely informative and I should recommend his sessions to all attendees at future TrawlerFests, if he is on the program. The usual caveat applies here: I have no commercial interest in NAPA, Raytech or Dave's Mobile Marine Repairs. Capt. Howard W. Evirs, Jr.

TWL: TennTom Waterway/ Mississippi river
Sat, Mar 1, 2003 2:37 PM
This is the turn around point on the Tenn as the depth drops to abt 3-4 ft. ( the SEARAY factory is rt there) OR turn South into the Tenn-Tom waterway and go all the way to the Gulf of Mexico through Mobile Bay. The ICW crosses the Mobile Bay at he Gulf so you can turn rt and go to Texas and Mexico or left and go to Fla and New York/ Canada.

ActiveCaptain today released its 18th article in our series of articles about using mobile phones on boats. This article is one of my favorites - it's about different ways, strategies, and products you can use to power and charge mobile phones (and other mobile devices). There are some interesting ideas mentioned and some new products we've uncovered.

Bob, I should have pointed out that I took an off shore route from Mobile Bay to Panama City. With that said, I still didn't hear any tugs/tows anywhere near Mobile, although I saw many. In fact, one tug was very helpful using his searchlight to illuminate the day markers ahead of me through the channel just north of Dalphine (sp?)

Re: Coupling / best of all?
Wed, Feb 9, 2005 2:51 AM
I think the best method of all for a transmission coupling is to duplicate the system that holds your prop on. A taper, keyway, thread and locknuts. I have heard of many standard couplings loosing their grip, and the shaft pulling out, but so far, have not heard of a prop coming off the shaft. Of course, I may not get around enough........
