Dear community,
I want to mount a mobile operator for text & multimedia messaging service
(SMS & MMS) to other operators of my country Chile. It's possible? Does
exist some specialized software for this? Using the USRP B200 and the
correct antenna for the frequency of my country.

Thank in advance for your response.

Greetings from Chile.

There are several options for running basestation software on the USRP,
depending on which cellular standard you're interested in. For GSM, there
is OpenBTS. For WCDMA, there is OpenBTS-UMTS. For LTE, there is OpenLTE,
srsLTE, Eurecom's OpenAirInterface (OIA), and the commercial Amarisoft LTE
stack. I believe all of these will run on the B200.

To be clear, for example if I choose OpenBTS with the B200, could I send
SMS & MMS to mobile phones of other operators? (eg. Claro, Movistar,
Entel). That's exactly what I need to do.

Thanks in advance.

Being able to send SMS and MMS to other operators doesn't really have to do
with OpenBTS, per se. It really has to do with what agreements you have
with other wireless carriers, and what gateway you use to access the SS7
network. OpenBTS is capable of providing roaming services.

As this question doesn't have anything to do specifically with USRP radios,
let's please move this discussion to the OpenBTS mailing list, where you
can ask further questions about the capabilities of OpenBTS and
OpenBTS-UMTS.
