I'm planning > on replacing the windlass soon and have been leaning towards the all chain > rode & remote control windlass. (Lofrans Tigress to be exact) I think it was a Lofrans Tigress windlass I had on my previous boat.

Calling all Luboids

Now we are all petty sure that JD neither owns their own wells and refineries nor is likely to be in the filter manufacturing business. The API stuff on the JD lub oil is the current CJ.CI4 or CH4 . I'm not sure cause she who must doesn't allow five gal pails of oil at son's thanksgiving table.

The wood will die at each of the "noble" fittings, i.e. at each spot where you want the wood to be extra strong... Where the wooden structure holds the struts, the stuffing box, the rudder bearings, etc. the wood will turn to mush! On a wood boat, each of the underwater metals should have its own separate zinc for protection.

When you die you can't take your money with you but maybe you can take your cruising memories ... 2. 1% Slip 1% Insurance 1% Mantainance 2% Loss of value (only if you buy a good "reseller") 5% Income, you don't get (If you use your money; if you use your bank it's more expensive) -> 10 % from list-price every year.

TWL: CO2 Bottle/Air Horn
Wed, Jun 5, 2002 2:30 PM
I replaced the 20 year old single that sounded more like a large dieing mammel than a horn. I used the existing CO2 bottle/regulator system and it works great. I removed the tank and had it checked and refilled at a welding supply store. It will be interesting to see how long one bottle will last. I have the regulator set at about 60 psi.
