Re: T&T: Hand Crimpers
Sun, Mar 26, 2017 1:22 AM
I modified one die set to fit 4/0 cable and used it several times. I've seen several similar 16 ton hydraulic crimpers on e-bay for $30 prehaps worth the risk/buy. I also used the smaller dies to swage wire rope and that ok as well.

Re: [OpenSCAD] Userspace extensibility of core modules, and minimalist OpenSCAD

Unlike the bizarre hack concern above, I think if it was easy to extend the core then people would be proposing all sorts of changes. I think it makes more sense to keep things as they are and allow libraries to extend the core (as is already basically possible).

When fitted properly, and they're very easily fitted, these shouldn't leak at all. If they have a downside it's that same thing that makes them work so well to start with, the ring bedding itself into the outer of the copper pipe, especially as there can be a tendency to overtighten despite warnings to the contrary.

Drinking water
Mon, Apr 6, 2009 1:59 AM
I just addressed my way of getting rid of chlorine, hose, and other taste from water AFTER the tank, and all of a sudden we are debating the life-span of chlorine. Good grief. The following clip is from the Centers for Disease Control government website: "Public water systems generally are disinfected with chlorine.

Re: [OpenSCAD] Rounded Polygon
Fri, Apr 26, 2019 11:16 AM
I've been pondering the task of making a box where the inside joint between the walls and base is rounded and the top edge is rounded. To do this for a general box (with an arbitrary shaped base) appears to be very difficult. Regarding run time, hull() can be slow.
