Their original advantage was that you could deflate them for easy storage. But they've long since outgrown that premise, and now sport 100 hp motors, consol steering, and can cost as much as a small trawler. So since no one deflates them anymore, why lose all that space to a set of tubes?

i know that conditions in So Fl are pretty easy but in winter we do get some 40/50s and cold (for us)northerly winds sometimes. We also get some pretty severe rainshowers with near 0 visibility, especially in winter. When visibility goes down, teh only option is to run the boat from the flybridge. if it's cold or rainy, bundle up...

Al Giroux, Rick Kimball, Keith You have all asked similar questions, so I will try to answer all in one E-mail. Guess I am getting lazy. The locks should not be a problem. In all cases you will have to provide your own lines. (the Erie Canal does have lines hanging down from the walls, but they are so dirty and slimy we never use them.)

will become more and more common - Checking weather and even accessing weatherfax via an SSB connection is not a power-user activity - Looking at your digital photographs, backing up your PDA/cell phones, etc. are all non-power-user activities It is a huge advantage to be able to do all of those things, and more, on your single higher-end portable computer
