Re: [CT Birds] Birding Optics Question
Fri, Oct 19, 2007 4:25 PM
Most of the good birding shops don't even bother to stock the "non" scopes anymore. 2) I checked out your website photos - excellent. Are you considering using the scope for ultra-telephoto photography?

preventing window strikes
Tue, Oct 27, 2009 12:19 PM
I threaded some picture wire through one end and attached it to the outside top of the window with the wire wound around a nail at each side of the window frame at the top. I pulled the screening out to about a 30 degree angle at the bottom near the ground and held it taut with twine and tent pegs driven into the ground. The birds just bounce off.

winter finches

In a recent walk around the Spruce Forest area, most of these trees are now covered from the bottom to top with invasive vines, and in most cases it is impossible to tell that these trees were once evergreens, they are all dying if not dead.

Make sure to go all the way to the top of the paved trail/driveway. Thanks to Maggie who owns the house at the top with the feeder and is a very gracious host. Also, around the yard was a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. - All 3 species of Scoter were seen from Ender's Island.

After about 10 minutes, it flew about 100 yards south to the top of a hydro pole near Hwy 81. Directions as per Dave Skinner's posting: >From London: Exit off Highway 402 at Highway 81 (also known as Centre Street).
