After failing to get the Upland Sandpiper with the Old Timers Cooperative Big YearTeam in Rainy River area last week and three failed tries this week around Panmure Road west of Carp, I finally got one this morning on top of a telephone pole on Donald B. Munro Dr.

Directions:  Go west from the village of Carp (west of Ottawa)  on Donald B. Munro Dr.  until you get to house number 1188 (911 sign in driveway).  The Uplands was on top of a pole at the roadside at 8:52 am calling just 100m past #1188 on the south side of the road.

While doing my BBS route this morning, I observed a red-headed woodpecker.
The location is 5082 8th Line, Essa, which is a bit less than 1/2km north of
Highway 89.  Essa is SW of Barrie and NE of Alliston.  The bird was flying
from south to north over the fields on the east side of the road.  I did not
observe it other than flying, so whether it is transient or residing in that
area is unclear.
