Hello,

Just reporting a couple of things from birding this afternoon in eastern CT.

  • Western Tanager continues at the feeder in peace sanctuary in
Mystic.  Make sure to go all the way to the top of the paved
trail/driveway.  Thanks to Maggie who owns the house at the top with the
feeder and is a very gracious host.  Also, around the yard was a
    Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.

  • All 3 species of Scoter were seen from Ender's Island.

  • Several American Woodcock and a flying, and calling, Short-eared Owl
were found along the entrance road to Barn Island in an open area near
an odd house that looks a bit like a castle (at least it does in the dark).

Good birding,
Jake
