Re: [time-nuts] Using CPLD/FPGA or similar for frequency divider

Like a CPLD/FPGA the PIC has the advantage of being fully synchronous and all on one die. /tvb [1] http://leapsecond.com/pic/ [2] https://www.tapr.org/kits_t2-mini.html

NYT articles on Cicadas
Thu, Jun 13, 2013 8:38 PM
After all our recent chatter about cicadas, here's the group of NYTimes articles about our Brood II and the 15 remaining broods. Nice graphics & maps. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/science/a-century-of-cicadas.html A Century of Cicadas Periodical cicadas live underground for 17 or 13 years before emerging to sing, mate and die.

On the road Peregrine CT- all day Rhode Island coastal birding
Sun, Nov 28, 2010 2:27 AM
On the way we spotted the resident male New London PEREGRINE perched on top of a light pole on the Gold Star Bridge with its pigeon prey. We looked on all the remaining light poles but didn't see the female. Our first stop was one of our favorite birding hot spots: Beavertail Point.

Leaking diesel fuel tank
Mon, Jun 20, 2005 11:04 AM
Charles Cullota has a good write-up on his website covering his fix for leaking tanks. http://www.geocities.com/charlesculotta/1024index.html I faced the same situation last fall and ended up replacing all four tanks with new aluminum tanks. I can now sleep well knowing the fuel is in the tanks rather than the bilge.

Re: T&T: alcohol stoves - I wouldn't.
Sat, Oct 28, 2006 5:36 PM
Although Origo alcohol stoves are the safest of that type (the alcohol is retained in a felt-like cylinder under each burner with no pressure) diesel for Northern (PNW and Maine) climes and propane for all other locations are the most efficient - more BTUs per unit of measure.

New Model VHF Radio
Wed, Feb 15, 2017 6:05 AM
I have a then top of the line Icom IC-M127 VHF that is probably 15 years old. It works fine but does not have any of today's improvements. It does not even have a DSC "distress" button. The reason I have never purchased a new VHF is because all radios since then have been smaller.

But flip a coin. I may be insecure that is why I always had two ways to move the boat even when one was a mast and sail or when very young a mast and paddle. larry, POKEY TOO
