Regarding the question about alcohol stoves--Not on My boat ever again.
Alcohol is darn dangerous and burns with an invisible flame when spilt.  And
it is costly and not alway easy to get.

Check out Dickinson,  and Wallas Diesel stoves for absolute dependability.
That way you reduce the number of fuels you are carrying to Diesel only.

The Wallas stove is a lovely item from Finland (a wonderful land), and they
have a really good website.  They are sold in Seattle.  I have had  a
sucession of Dickinson stoves for years and years, with absolute reliability
and warmth.

Although Origo alcohol stoves are the safest of that type (the alcohol is
retained in a felt-like cylinder under each burner with no pressure) diesel
for Northern (PNW and Maine) climes and propane for all other locations are
the most efficient - more BTUs per unit of measure.

Electric is perhaps the safest, but it requires the running of the generator
and most cooks prefer that the top of the range be flame while the oven is
electric. It's what you want for your cruising ground with the support
equipment (like a generator) you are willing to install.
