Homemade Intake Silencer for Diesel Engines
Tue, Feb 5, 2008 10:46 PM
All, I have been doing a bit of research on cutting down on the intake noise created by two NA 6.354 Perkins. After getting a delivered price of $850 per engine for a Walker Airsep, this suggestion by a contributor to another website peaked my interest. easy and it's fun.

Re: [time-nuts] Programmable clock for BFO use....noise

I went to Cardinal the website to learn more, but they're pretty sparse on details. It looks like they make all sorts of crystals, OC, TC, and VT XO modules, etc, and these programmable ones, which are apparently PLL-based oscillators locked to an XO. They don't say much more, but if you asked, maybe they'd give some usable info.

It has been feeding amongst the Canada Geese so it is easy to overlook. Thanks, Bruce Directions (Courtesy of Michael Tate): The bird is 400 m from the road on the west side of Frank Kenny south of the bridge at the gravel pull out.

Re: [time-nuts] Symmetricom 5115

I had read some specs on the Symmetricom website but I do not know for which model. Although automated and easy to use, I remember that the phase noise floor was lackluster and makes me think that this may be fine for very close-in measurments but not for the usual 100Hz to 100KHz offset measurments.

There's plenty of time to submit your Big January results, and it's easy to do so. Birders can submit a total number for the entire state of Connecticut, and/or a County and/or a town within Connecticut.

> Many thanks, > W1BKR An Arduino or Teensy (http://www.pjrc.com) are both trivially easy to program and have easy interfaces (With a large number of off the shelf interface widgets like relays, optoisolators, etc.). There's probably off the shelf code and hardware interfaces for decoding your SMPTE or other time codes.
