Re: TWL: Naming engines and other inanimate objects

When I got him he had been neglected and not started for at least five years, I spent several days down in the engine room taking Bjorg apart, cleaning and reassembling and all the time talking to him.

Re: TWL: Diesel Furnaces

Depending on maintenace some more, some less but they all stink to the outside. If another boat is mostly downwind of an Espar - they suffer and so do otherwise good friendships. Espars are usually vented at water level or slightly above. Why can't they use stovepipes to bring the smell at least above the level of the pilot-houses?

TWL: Pocket Mail Billing
Thu, Sep 20, 2001 1:50 PM
I want you all to be aware of this situation: I signed up with PocketMail a year ago in September 2000, giving them my Master Card number by phone. I did not want to renew but on my last MasterCard statement appears a $239.- CDN item from PocketMail (renewal for one year). They had send no invoice, no statement, nothing.

They just ever so slowly march down or across the pavement and stop all traffic. Really want to have one of these horns around next time and see if I can scare the bejeesus out of them? George on the GGW (Great Goose Way)

Re: TWL: washing Sunbrella fabric?

Sunbrella is not all that expensive (the heavy cost of a cover is in the frame and fittings) and a new Bimini makes your boat look like a million bucks. IMNSHO -- George of Scaramouche, Lake Ontario, Canada

You can just run them all into the Qatec and then use the NMEA repeater software in Nobeltec to send the desired data out the desired port (e.g. route the compass and GPS data to the autopilot, route the GSP data to the external radar, etc.)

. # On a system running fontconfig use fc-match -v to find the PostScript # name of a font. Example: # $ fc-match -v DeJaVuSans:style=oblique | grep postscriptname # $ postscriptname: "DejaVuSans-Oblique"(w) # Use OpenSCAD Hellp > Font List to get the pattern for fc-match # Remove the spaces from the font name listed by OpenSCAD.

TWL: Single engine performance of twin engine boats
Thu, Oct 17, 2002 5:48 AM
I'm of the mind that a good engine will run forever given the proper care and feeding so I've started looking for a single engine trawler, 40-50', and, not being willing to die for my beliefs, would like some kind of get home engine.
