Easton sector highlights of Westport CBC
Mon, Dec 16, 2019 2:10 AM
Despite high winds, there were several interesting and locally difficult-to-find birds in the Easton sector of the Westport CBC today. There was a continuing PINE WARBLER at Aspetuck Reservoir (two there yesterday), and VESPER SPARROW (4), WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW (2), WILSON'S SNIPE, E.

Re: TWL: RE: Jonah? - Advantages of ENS

When the ENS (when, not if) goes TU in a tense situation, how long will it take you to make heads or tails of what is around you and how it relates to the chart, once you've found it. For those that frequently cruise in local, or even regional waters, I think ENS makes sense because you already have a basic familiarity with what's around you.

However, ENS offers an added layer of useful information in "real >time" and for me it's lots of fun to follow.

On MaxSea you can change the length of the predictor line while en-route. A great option that allows you to adjust the line length for close quarter work vs 10 mile-a-part wps. Circles around wps to warn of arrival, ETAs, logbooks are all nice ideas but not in my opinion really necessary.

TWL: Hacking off a mast
Sat, Aug 16, 2003 6:45 PM
I am tempted to just hack 7' of the top of that perfectly good mast and feed my lust for leaving my rag bagger past behind BUT, a part of me says DON'T YOU DARE CUT THAT MAST YOU SCHLEMOZEL. So, cut the damn thing or sell it?
