Re(2): TWL: PocketMail Inquiry

PocketMail has two toll free lines operating here in Canada but they want to hear beeps and connect only (no voice to ask questions); and sofar I haven't found a retailer here who sells the Sharp TM-20. Here is Toronto, Canada - and if you can't get it here, you can't get it anywhere (in Canada that is). I shall keep trying to find a dealer. Sofar RadioShack, BusinessDepot and FutureShop have been negative. Yes, I have looked at PocketMail's website and send them an e-mail inquiry. Any Help? George of Scaramouche

When I buy something, I like to walk into a store, touch and feel the item, get a demo if possible and walk out smiling, knowing that what I came in for is now in my hands, ready to use. And yes, I'm willing to pay a bit extra for this if I have to..... Ciao - George, 64, retired and practising 'grouchiness' ;-)

At the price of new oars these days - $100.- without oarlocks - the proper length for me is whatever comes with the dinghy :-) :-) :-) George of Scaramouche who has an old fibreglass dink and even older oars to go with it. Both came with an ancient wooden boat I boat five years ago....

And I thought sailboats were tight for space.... Mine is so bad, that I have to hire a 3 ft contortionist midget with superior mechanical ability and no fear of claustrophobia to lubricate my shaft bearing and or tighten the stuffing box. Since there is a shortage of said contortionist midgets around here and I am too big to get my creaking body through the lazaret opening, standing on my head or otherwise, I too have decided to mangle my floorboard to cut an access hole for the stuffing box. Since said access will have to be through the cockpit floor, I have an additional quest: to make the new hatch cover waterproof - but that's another story and part of the coming winter-projects. My water pump incidentially is located right in front of the Diesel and I can fiddle with it sitting crosslegged on the saloon floor (carpeted and padded with comfortable cushions) with beverage next to me and friendly jazz emanating from the surround-sound music machine. Just thought I had to throw this in ;-) ;-) ;-) George of Scaramouche, presently mastless and pretending to be a troller/trawler (not quite to WTP standards -more winter-projects to come).

I was going to enlighten you with the water/oil interface as in "oil over troubled waters" and why old time sailors poured unrefined crude on the waves to calm the sea. But I won't, at least not today.... Gg

The Great Loop Tour includes, I believe, some sections of canals. Some of these won't let you enter unless you have a holding tank and your Y-valve is permanently plugged. I believe the Erie Canal is one of them. perhaps someone who has recently done this trip could advise? - George of Scaramouche

But my single state is worth the $40 to me.
