Sextants
Fri, Dec 2, 2005 1:59 PM
I am planning on taking celestial navigation and was looking about for a used sextant to be a backup if both GPS systems die. I've always been interested but never taken the time to learn. From reading Passagemaker, it seems the morning sightings were enough for sound bearings during his trip across the pond.

Re: T&T: Fuel Tank Design
Sun, Jul 9, 2006 2:05 PM
When my "Marine Trader originals" finally die, and they will, my plan is to craft fuel tank replacements with a low point pick-up regardless of whether ABYC thinks it's a good idea. Meanwhile, I'll just "escrow" a few dollars each month to prepare for the fuel tank replacement adventure...

Boat Bugs

I bet the bugs all die. This would also be useful if you were leaving the boat for a while. Just try to reduce the places where the CO2 could exit the boat before you return. Just a thought. Eric Thompson S/V Procrastinator South San Francisco capteric36@sbcglobal.net

This kills all the krill and plankton and the animals which feed upon them either die or go elsewhere - mostly elsewhere. The Gulf is one of two locations, worldwide, for the breeding of Blue Fin Tuna - already in danger of being "fished-out." Phooey, Ron Rogers

USCG couldn't tell the politicians that "people will die" so it was a savings to be achieved. Given the shutdown costs it will take a few years to break even - so it's actually more expensive in the short run. I heard this weekend that they have already demo'd the Boise City tower because no other agency wanted it. On 10/4/2010 3:37 PM, J.
