[Ontbirds] HSR: Grimsby, ON - Beamer Conservation Area (26 Apr 2013) 128 Raptors
Sat, Apr 27, 2013 11:04 PM
All counting is done by volunteers. Not all members are counters nor does a counter have to be a member. Typically one person is the designated counter for each day but other observers present assist with the spotting and identification. Counting is done from a steel observation tower with a wooden floor.

That is not to say that any voyage of distance is not a passage, but the term Passagemaker was one Beebe coined to use for ocean-crossing vessels. FrankB

My Admiral and I (ex-sailors) have coined a term for many of those other-than-trawler type boats. We call them "pointy window boats". Do windows pointed at the ends really reduce drag? They sure reduce visibility from inside. We love out large (360 degree awareness) cabin windows. We cruise to places worth looking at.

For a study supporting Ron's position, look at http://hps.org/newsandevents/newsarchive/oldnews280.html For the other side of the coin, look at http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,1098125,00.html . Like cell phones and global warming, the jury is still out on this issue. ______________________________ C.
