Quality of free charts being distributed?
Mon, Jun 6, 2005 3:47 PM
In places where there wasn't S-57 derived charts I used the "free" charts that now come with Maptech Chartkits. These are raster representations of the exact paper charts and are therefore, almost as accurate as the paper charts themselves.

Re: TWL: SSB receiver?

I would like to receive in the 4 and 8 mhz band for >weather >fax and need AC and 12 volt DC power and RS-232 port for connection >to the >laptop. I have read that you can get these for around $300 as >opposed to >$1200 for the full transceiver. West Marine does not have them. I have just bought a Grundig YB400PE receiver only.

Re: T&T: Lower stations, do you use yours?

I will second this. I used Jastram components when I refit Island Eagle with hydraulic steering, and they were great. With some companies, you talk to sales people and at the very end might get a bit of engineering expertise. With Jastram, when you call you are talking right to the engineers.

The incoming message about Manatee did not look like >anything but >plain text at my end, but I am told that it was in MIME protocol >(whatever >that is!). I have been informed that my reply was full of mime junk.

I have and have had for at least 3 years one >> called "Digital One Rate". > > When I was shopping I found that this plan from AT&T was the only true >> national plan. > >We have this plan. No problems. Would you also know if and how this plan works in Mexico?
