Re: TWL: Re: trawler-world-list V4 #221

In addition to the spiral muffler at the engine exhaust, I've added a secondary muffler in the pipe at the top of the pilothouse. My friends tell me it's quieter. I still think it sounds very loud. Too loud to have a normal conversation while underway is in my book too loud. However, I've done all I can and I live with it.

Re: [time-nuts] 10811 crystal orientation

The turn-over test needs to be done over all three axis. So top/bottom turn, long-side/long-side turn and short-end/short-end turn. The crystal blank is mounted parallel to the top and bottom sides BTW. Cheers, Magnus

Your job as parents is to teach them to control all three. My job as a grandad is to tell you how you are doing it all wrong!

Re: [WEB SECURITY] Closing web sites due to legislation

In Europe, a website must inform the user if it intends to store data (e.g. cookies but also HTML5 Local Storage) on the user's computer, and inform about what the data is going to be used for. The law does NOT require the website to ask the user whether it can store data or not.

[Ontbirds] Brown Booby

Hi all, The bird flew in and landed on the lighthouse just after 5:40 pm, presumably to roost. The rain picked up just after that so I imagine it will spend the night there. It landed right at the top of the lighthouse (on the metal just below the peak) with two Cormorants. Luke Berg

sound insulation (4-53s)
Thu, Sep 6, 2007 10:47 PM
My old boat has lead lined fiberglass insulation in all the engine room areas and the floor of the salon. It has 4/53 detroits. They are not objectional at cruise speed in the salon, on top of the engines. Seems like it is better for the material to absorb the noise than isolote it. YMMV

How to inset an IP core on the fpga of X300
Fri, Jan 29, 2016 2:48 AM
Dear all, If I want to insert an IP core into the fpga, like a block ram, what is the right way of doing it? Should I create a folder under /usrp3/top/x300/ip, with .xci file and Makefile.inc in it, then just instantiate it in the source code. Can it work? Thanks, Zhihong
