[Ontbirds] Pine Siskins, Red Crossbill in Markham
Mon, Apr 27, 2009 11:36 PM
The irruption of White-winged Crossbills was evident in the flocks that visited my yard many times this winter. They came in large and small flocks calling clearly. I looked for wing bars on this evening's visitor, but there were none. Carol McKnight

[Ontbirds] B;ack Vulture in Richmond Hill
Mon, May 31, 2010 5:18 PM
This morning at 10:29am while I was riding in my limo (YRT Bus) I looked out the window and perched at the top of a dead tree at 10049 Yonge Street was an adult Black Vulture. The bird was gone when I rode by again at 12:30pm. The scary part of this very nice sighting is that 10049 Yonge Street is my Doctors office which I will be visiting on Thursday.

[Ontbirds] immature Summer Tanager
Sat, May 7, 2011 8:29 PM
Robin Lawson and I visited the De Jongs this afternoon and the immature Summer Tanager put on quite a show.  While he did not sing, he did give us the "picky, tucky, tuck" call at least twice.  He appears at the suet feeder in the backyard every 10 to 15 minutes.
