On the water tanks, it would seem that you'd have to vent the top one, or at least make sure if you put a vent in the bottom one, the vent is higher than the top of the upper tank. Otherwise, the water will just run out when you fill them both.

The lightning hit the top of the mast, ran down the standing rigging, and dissipated into the sea with no damage to the boat. Not even discoloration to any of the rigging, nor damage to the electronics (which were all turned off at the time).

In the PNW we find LCD and Laptop adequate in all but the most difficult instances. Shield arrangements, that ability to move the laptop to the other side of the helm, high contrast setting on the nav program, special large cursors, take off you sunglasses all these help. For a pilothouse arrangement, consider the thin screen CRT displays.

On the sailboat we folded them in half twice so when we bought the powerboat I IRONED them all. If I had my druthers I would have the chart table just the way it is. With the top folded down you can spread a chart. With the charts put away you can use the top for whatever you want. Anne on Seabird 45' CHB pilothouse

Upon inspection, the thickness of the top cover allows only a very short threaded segment for the installation. There was also some dissimilar metal corrosion. All in all it appeared to be a disaster waiting to happen. I took the rig out and put on new top covers. Your mileage may vary. Dan Stone St.
