Did the PO make it himself or was it a Thoro Flow? I heard that they were
out of business but there are a lot of the units still in use. I don't have
one on my current boat.

of you have "permanently" mounted plumbing into your sea
strainers so that you can easily connect a dock side hose
and flush your engines.

I find this thread interesting because I never thought of using my winterizing
manifold as a fresh water rinse aid. The previous owner of my trawler passed
away shortly after I bought the boat. He ahd a manifold plumbed wit shut off
valves to each of the raw water strainers on the boat. I found this made it
very simple to winterize each of the engines, generator, AC, and Anchor/deck
washdown pump easily. I close the thru hole for the item I am winterizing,
open the valve to the manifold for that item and fill the 5-10 gallon bucket
full of pink, drop the hose from the manifold into the bucket, start the
engine or pump and wait for it to pump thru. The manifold is plumbed before
the raw water strainers so the olny thing that doesn't get pink is the short
section of hose between the thru hole and the rawwater strainer. This gets
drained by disconnecting the hose at the thru hole and then reconnecting,
opening the manifold valve, and letting some pink run back toward the closed
thru hole. Being a relatively new trawlerite this made my first year
winterizing much more a do it yourself item. Now I learn that when I finally
get to salt water that I can use the same set up for another purpose entirely.
