All chain rode scope question.
Wed, Aug 30, 2006 9:27 PM
I have always heard that for all-chain rode, 3:1 is the norm...5:1 for storm conditions. For the ultimate storm, whatever you've got. 2. I think there is a good argument for too much rode. The boat will sail around more with a lot of rode which may put side loads on the gear that you might not see otherwise.

Deck core replacement
Sat, Oct 17, 1998 2:04 PM
I've taken the teak strips off the top, bored some holes through the top layer of fiberglass, and determined (now for the bad news) that about two feet of the aft portion of the core is waterlogged and rotten, all the way across the bredth of the deck. I'm going to cut a "lid" off of the top layer of fiberglass, and replace the rotten core.

But, still, given all of the above, on my new trawler, it will have a propane cook top, a small portable, proane single element cook top for emergencies, and the Admiral is looking at a small, one unit portable induction cook top as a backup. (She really wants this for "simmering" purposes.) I went with propane because induction tops were $$$$.

The other side of that coin is that the notices that I do send out tend to go to the same people over and over again. These recidivists (as I affectionately think of them) also are usually the ones that respond by accusing me of censoring them or of simply being a jerk.

When using a small coin Lithium battery, the backup time is only 6 months to 1 year or so typically, also not a very good performance. Not a good situation, they could have solved that more elegantly for sure.

Re: Linear extrude SVG with scale determined by math function?

If you want to prove it mathematically, consider what should be the edge where you'd flip a coin to decide which way to snap-to-grid. That should be the line where the distance to both points is the same. So the area that snaps to 1,1 is delineated by the line at y=0.5 to the neighbor at 1,0.
