TWL: Re: Dickinson Antarctic Diesel Heater, Opinions Wanted
Fri, Feb 7, 2003 2:08 AM
Response: I have the H style and mine is mounted on top of about 4 feet of flue above the deck. There is another 4 feet of pipe between the heater and the top of the cabin for a total of 8 feet of flue. The mushroom type seems to be used on surface (i.e. deck level) installations while the H style is atop a flue pipe.

For me personally, for a short term solution, I'm thinking of using an > undisciplined rubidium. > > -- > A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. > Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? > A: Top-posting. > Q: What is the most annoying thing in e-mail?

Re: [time-nuts] Measuring the accurcy of a wrist watch

Place a simple quartz movement wrist watch on top of a Fender Stratocaster guitar. I get a very strong and easy to detect signal. A loud and sharpt "ping" once per second. More then 1 volt peak to peak. I can cancel almost all the background hum and hiss in the normal way by using the selector switch on the guitar.

- Attenuator, Unlock with allen, adjust for same, usually pulled all the way out. Remember to lock. -S5 the one by the attenuator, only needed if tube swapped but if you adjust make sure the peak does not slip when you tighten the locknut. - the top pot, adjust for the same.

It's fast for an old trawler, (8-10 kts), economical (2 gph), and easy to buy (50-65k). The best Mainships come through the mainship website rather than brokers. Northern fresh water boats may be better than Florida boats because they are used less of the time due to winter storage layup time.
