Why I've chosen synthetic is simply because every independent report I've ever read places synthetics well above all fossil oils. I consider it good and inexpensive insurance for one of the most critical and expensive systems on boat.

It is the full Navionics Gold charts with the application, tides, etc. all together for a total price of $4.99 per region (the entire East coast is a region). I think it could use some additional features and I'd assume that Navionics will continue to update it. They are promising that the price will increase in the future. iNavX is OK.

We all know that data roaming into Canada can be terribly expensive. We cruise extensively in BC waters each year and use the Verizon cell phone plan with roaming into Canada, costing $10 per month, for our voice communications. For data, I use a Telus device (Telus Mobility Internet).

I just signed up for Verizon's America's Choice plan with 400 anytime minutes and unlimited nights (after 9 PM) and weekends, plus 1000 verizon mobile to verizon mobile minutes, for $40 a month.

To me, seems like all the boating magazines, give a false report of vessels. Have you ever read a bad report on a boat? I haven't. According to boating magazines all NEW power boats are GREAT,. and have no problems. And just about every time you see a report on a boat, the is a full page add in the mag for that boat also.
