I mounted the Sony antenna on top of the pipe, which extended just above the hand rail. and connected all the fittings, etc. The antenna can rotate a full 360 degrees if needed. I will add another support between the upper portion of the stantion and the pipe to give added strength, though at dock its not needed.

A cleat near the outboard end of the finger along with a bracket or hook on top of a flexible and easily-broken vertical stanchion-- a piece of 1" PVC or the like-- is all that's required. A strong mooring line is cut to length and secured to the cleat and the loop end is hung on the hook at a bit above handrail height.

One bright point is that the winds will be from the right, East, and the top, North, of the pic of the lagoon, so all of the "big iron" that is in, and will be comming today, the lagoon will be down wind of us. They are our biggest worry Re: dragging boats. Thanks a bunch for the replys and for the good info.

It should be able to see to the horizon all 360 degrees. Well if you live in the USA some blockage to the North is OK. Put it on a short mast and as a ham you know about lightening and grounding and so on.. Don't skimp on that. 3/4 iron plumbing pipe with a pipe flange on top makes a perfect mast and you can run the cable down the pipe.
