Re: TWL: Nav lights, all lit up
Tue, Apr 24, 2001 10:36 PM
Many fishing boats run with several mercury vapor flood lights on all the time. This is one of my personal gripes, I wish the Costies would go out and bust a few now and then. ---------------------------------------- Ross Fleming rossflem@serv.net S/V Renown Gulfstar 39 Seattle, Washington

See you in Paradise!

Does anyone have an idea of the mileage that is from Mobile, Ala to Apalachicola Florida? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. All my information is on our boat which is 170 miles from our home.

TWL: Synthetic 006
Tue, May 16, 2000 1:12 PM
The oils are limited to Mobil Delvac 1 SAE 5W-40 in the Cummins and Mobil 1 SAE 5W-30 in the Hondas. We all realize that all engines are not created equal, and I suspect that all synthetic oils are also not created equal. I do have knowledge about the quality of my engines because I have experience with them.

Re: T&T: Replacing a broken salon sliding window
Tue, Apr 26, 2011 2:55 PM
Lever the slider down from the top and pull out all the old window channel material. 7. Place new channel in the bottom and side frames. 8. Put the new slider in place and seal and refasten the top piece of frame in place. 9. Working from the "back" end of the slider, you should be able to work the new top window channel material into place.

Re: T&T: Adding Water to Wet Cell Battery-How Much?
Thu, Oct 4, 2012 6:02 PM
If it will be necessary to charge the battery, bring the levels in all cells to just above the separators inside the cells to allow for expansion during charging. Top off after charging as noted below.

sea water systems. . .2 cents worth. . . long
Thu, Jun 3, 2010 7:03 PM
O2 is consumed by O2 organisms and they die. CO2 needers die too coz there's no longer any plants to produce CO2. Dead, smelly water. For the purposes of engines, it's clean water. Engines running, you'll see a little growth but not much. Been running down from New Orleans the last several months and it is not a problem. The sea chest is.
