RE: TWL: RE: Re: "Solera" oil change system

It's not in manuals, but bolt on stuff causes all kinds of failures which make engines die before their time. If you have Lehmans and call Bob or Brian at American Diesel, they have a good handle on the duty cycles. Elbows are 2000 hours, for example. Re coolers, oil in the water isn't terminal, but water in the oil can be.

Echo charger on genset battery issue
Tue, Feb 26, 2008 8:06 AM
We went all through that a couple of years ago on this list, and we still revisit it from time to time. Your unit may or may not share the propensities for trouble that mine had. There appears to be some hope that Xantrex fixed the problem with the manufacturer.

Pencil Zincs
Sun, May 10, 2020 3:11 PM
If a new zinc will not tighten adequately, I throw the plug out; after all, I'm no further behind than when I started. Occasionally I'll come across a zinc with poor threads, then I just chase the threads with a correct size die, in my case 516. I'd love to hear of other approaches to ridding a plug of broken off zincs.

OTOH, the CyberPower run from the batteries all the time. The transfer glitch can be quite large and affect the load. So the float type UPS tends to give smoother power more of the time. RGDS GARY --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary E.

Re: [time-nuts] CSAC State of Play

We had some early CSAC units die that way and they were replaced without much hassle. They had not seen any sort of extended (as in weeks / months) high temperature exposure. They had been through standard testing which would take them over the entier temperature range. While the failure mode *could* have been the same, there is no way to be 100% sure.

any unheated Vref better than LT1021-7 (at 7 ppm/khr typ.) ?
Tue, Jan 1, 2013 5:50 PM
Happy 2013 to all volt-nuts! I have a question about unheated voltage reference chips. I am interested in long-term drift, for example ppm in the first 1000 hours. The manufacturers seem coy about this spec, as I have not found any parts listing allowing you to sort on that parameter.
